The Medfield Lions Club is the oldest continuously active service organization in Medfield, celebrating its 64thAnniversary this year. The members of this all-volunteer organization donate their time to help others in need and to raise funds for charity. Every penny raised for charity goes to charity, club administration costs are paid for by the club members.
As part of Lions Clubs International, the Club uses most of its annual resources in the fight against blindness, from giving money to eye research (Lasik surgery started with a research grant from the Mass. Lions Eye Research Fund) to training seeing eye dogs to sending diabetic children to a special camp where their blood sugar can be monitored to recycling discarded eyeglasses for the poor all over the world. But a sizeable portion of its resources stays in Medfield in the form of scholarships for graduating Medfield High students, functions for the town’s senior citizens, the local Food Pantry, and support of other local needs.
These are just a small sample of the worthy causes supported by the Medfield Lions Club. New ‘N Towne members who are looking to expand their community service (especially those who are at the end of their New ‘N Towne eligibility) are invited to find out more. The Lions meet on the first Wednesday of every month at 7:00 PM at the American Legion Hall for dinner, fellowship, and to plan upcoming activities. We are always looking for potential new members.
